Soda Springs is home to the largest captive geyser in the world. The geyser was discovered when the city was drilling for a hot water, instead they found a carbonated source that sent a plume of water one hundred feet into the air! The geyser has been recognized on "Ripley's Believe It or Not!" and in the Guinness Book of World Records |

| Formation Springs, at the base of the Aspen Mountains, is protected by the National Conservancy. Water high in travertine provides interesting geological formations. Formation Cave is over one hundred feet long and ten feet tall at its entrance. This area is also excellent for waterfowl and wildlife viewing. | |
Soda Springs received its name from weary travelers in the 1800s stopping to gain relief from the naturally carbonated water bubbling up from the ground. If you would like to taste the water for yourself, visit Hooper Springs, just north of town. |
